A LETTER TO MYSELF
Before I start this post, get well soon Aliff. You worry the socks off me when Sufi told me the news. I'll visit you soon k. =))
And here it goes, the long post.
Dearest Hash,
Exactly a year ago, you were busy tending to customers. At this hour, a crowd of long queues awaits you. You were busy popping the popcorn, asking for orders, doing back counters, getting stressed up. But heck, you love it! Then as times goes by, at 11 pm, you and your colleague started counting down to 12am. 1 hour left. Busy with what you were doing, time went by and in a few minutes its ready to clock 12 and that marks the New Year, 2007.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1. HAPPY NEW YEAR! As everyone shouted, and from your counter, you could see fireworks. It was a wonderful sight. You were awestruck by the moment till your manager tapped you on the back and you divert your attention to the customer in front. Then the walkie-talkie started to get busy. With everyone saying Happy New Year to each other. From concession people, to usher, to the box office, to the cafe, to projection guys, to the managers. Everyone was feeling rather happy. "Level 4 concession to L9 usher, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Don't frown k, smile smile!" Remember that? Well, that was how you celebrated your new year last year. The first and the last at that place.
And so Hash, how was your 2007? I remembered 2007 has been rather busy for you. With new experiences and new school, you took everything to a whole new level. You quitted your work (which you miss terribly now), you got into a new school, made some new friends, joined a new cca and what else?
The first 3 months of the year, you worked your ass off didn't you? Initially, you were in MI for the PAE, but withdrew and continued your work. But as April approachs you quitted to concentrate on your new school.
18
Being 18 this year, feels a little different from yesteryears. You celebrated your 18th Birthday with friends then family. You got the most greatest present! Your result. Such a coincidence the O level result day falls on your birthday. Remember crying the tears of joy while sitting on the chair and seeing your results? And at the sight of your result slip, the tears just flows down instantaneously? That was what you aimed, and that was what you got. Relieved that everything was over and your hard work paid off. (But the one thing you didn't do was to take the driving licence. Its ok Hash, now that you've registered, you'll start your lesson soon). =))
So, that was a good start for your 2007 wasn't it?
New school. New friends. New modules. New CCA. New system. New problems. New memories with new people.
I remembered how devastated you were Hash when you got your school posting. Unfortunately at that time, you got into your 5th choice. You did not get into the school that you wanted. Your friends got into different school, everyone was separated, you were alone in NYP. You were somehow disappointed in yourself. Though you've appealed to change the course, but your appeal was not approved. Then when you told some of them that you got into the course now, they would comment you back, "oh, so you want to be a P.E teacher?" . Well, that was what you thought that course was all about then. But it is different Hash. It's more than a P.E teacher. Its business and fitness.
SW0701
Imagine this Hash, if you were to be posted to another course, you wouldn't have met those wonderful classmates (SW0701) of yours who never fails to make you go crazy and laugh in class, right? And your school life would not be as interesting as it is now. And so they say, there's a reason behind all the happenings. You found some friends there, good friends indeed. =)). Happy New Year SW0701!
CCA
Then, you joined a CCA. You joined Malay Drama. You were pretty quiet weren't you? So quiet that somehow, you were left aside. You started to not come for some production trainings, because you find it boring then. No friends to talk to there. You even made up a decision to quit that CCA after your first production if things doesn't look good still. Then people would say, do it for the passion and not for friends. But will you enjoy what you are doing with no friends? And so you thought. Then one fine day, along came a few friends. Who picked you up. Who saw you keeping quiet at the side and asked you to join them. From there, bonds were made. You became close to them, you finally felt you were part of them. You're thankful to meet them. =)). They thought you how to love PS. You do, ALL of them. Eventhough some downs were experienced here, but the happy moments covered it, right Hash? Happy New Year MCG!
Matters of the heart
Ahhh what a topic, a hot one. So Hash, tell me, did you fall for anyone this year? I know you did.
You liked a guy in your class didn't you? Remembered how you jumped with happiness at receiving his messages? How your heart flutters when you went out or went home with him? How you secretly wish that whenever you're online, he would say Hi to you first and you’ll start a conversation after that? How you wish he’d notice and talk to you in class? How you wish he was near you every time? How you secretly steal a glance or two (or maybe many times over) at him? How everyday was a day that you looked forward to go to school just to see him? How you were always looking forward to the night calls? Oh my, were you in love? Haha. Infatuation instead. If only things have taken a different way. But its ok Hash, a friend is better than that. =)). Right Azlan?
Old Friends
You've made lots of new friends Hash. But don't forget the old ones. Who have shared with you memories after memories of growing up from a teen to a young adult. Who was there, at your nerdy self, to your now self. Whom you've shared elephant tons of memories with. Yes, some drift apart Hash, but trust me, they'll come back one day. Your class, 5N1, whose always number 1 in your heart. And Ms Lim, who never fails to understand you and her words of encouragement never fails to lift you up. You miss them don't you? You miss the class atmosphere, you miss the hours of solving maths problems, the jokes, the laughter, the recess gang, the food fight in canteen. The year started without seeing them in class, you kinda miss that huh? But Hash, the past is only good to reminisce at, let those memory of yours be the reason for you to smile when you are at your lowest. But you are still close with some of them now, the others I mean. Somehow when you hear people saying "HAPPY NEW YEAR" it reminds you of Johnny doesn't it? Who would always say that in class. So say we all, Johnny! They make you smile Hash, even if its only left with memories, they make you smile. Happy New Year Ms Lim, 5N1, Aliff, Sufi, Dinie, Shahidah, Farhana, Shazleen and all!
Dear Hash, I hope you are satisfied with your self this year. Many good memories, though some bad ones but I'm glad what you remembered for 2007 are all the happy ones. You've reached some of your targets and its time to set a new one. The lovely 2007 is leaving you in an one hour time and then it's time to open up a new chapter in your life Hash, 2008. As much as you don't want to leave 2007 because of all the warm and wonderful memories created, you have to say hello to 2008 Hash. Hopefully 2008 will be a much better year for you. I know, you wanna thanks all those people who've made an impact in your life, the old friends, the new ones. Everyone.
May you be healthy and well and happy. All the best Hash!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!
As what Ms Lim would always say,
Be strong. Be happy. Be true.
That wraps up 2007.
=))
Yours Truly,
HASYiMAH
